Bullseye Trainer™
During the training of fighter pilots a heavy increase of the pilot workload has been indicated when the tactical picture is given in bullseye format instead of bearing, range, altitude, azimuth (BRAA) format or via data link. In discussions between active pilots and personnel at the Swedish Air Force Combat Simulation Centre, it has been concluded that it would be useful to have some way of training the building of situational awareness. Preferably without having to be in the air or in a simulator facility using resources as fighter controllers and other pilots.
The conclusion led to the development of training software in a project involving active fighter pilots with different levels of experience, active fighter controllers, engineers from the computer game industry and engineers from the fighter jet industry. This training software resulted in the Bullseye Trainer™, which is now implemented as a part of the Swedish Air Force fighter pilot training.
